World's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie

My favorite cookie has always been the chocolate chip, don't get me wrong, I love all cookies, but my favorite is the chocolate chip.  Of course there is a story that goes along with my love of the chocolate chip cookie.  Back in the 7th grade my friend Cathy made the best chocolate chip cookie (hey Cath:).  Whenever, one of our friends celebrated a birthday in middle school we would decorate the locker, bring balloons, and Cathy always made the cookies.  Over the years, the perfect cookie has eluded me.  I love to bake, but I could never get the perfect chocolate chip cookie, they were flat and greasy or thick and doughy.  I just could not get it right no matter how many recipes I tried. One day I was complaining about my cookie problem to my sista Rebecca. She said, "Haven't I given you my recipe, it is the best chocolate chip cookie recipe?"   I gave it a try and not only is it the "Best" chocolate chip cookie....it is "The World's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie".

The World's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie

Ingredients:

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter (I use salted) softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups flour
2 cups chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Cream together with mixer, brown sugar, butter, and sugar.  Beat in vanilla, eggs, and baking soda.  Beat in flour one cup at a time (dough with be stiff).  Stir in chocolate chips. Scoop cookie dough (I use a cookie scoop) onto an ungreased cookie sheet with parchment paper. Bake for 8-10 minutes, do not overcook.  Cool on cookie sheet for a few minutes, once set move to cooling rack.  The recipe gives me 36-40 cookies.

Tips:

Using a cookie scoop will give you even, round cookies.  Over the years I have found that parchment allows your cookies to cook even and produces perfect bottoms.  Also, do not overcook.  The cookies my not look done, but they really are.  I cook mine right at 10 minutes and take them out.

Many thanks to Rebecca for letting me share her recipe.  Everyone should have "The World's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie" recipe in their recipe box!

I feel obligated to comment -- and try the recipe, which is actually different than mine, so I am curious : ) Unfortunately I just ate a cupcake , so I will not be trying it today, but I will use it next time I make cookies!

As usual, the pictures are great xoxo

Thank you for sharing this with us all my dear friend!!! You know I just can't get enough of your food photos & these look amazing. I have had a tried & true recipe I have kept secret for years. It was perfect. But since we moved dealing with new climate, oven & conditions- I am having to re-work it now. Hoping I can get them back to where they were. Maybe I will ditch it altogether & do this one from now on. :)

Sorry to hear you will be working Sunday. You will be on my mind. Hugs to you & the beautiful little ones.

what about halfing this recipe? would that work?

I have not halved the recipe before so I can not say for sure...I imagine it would work, all you could do is try. The whole recipe makes about 36 cookies.
