July 4th...The Boat Parade

For as long as I can remember we have spent 4th of July at the cabin. Even when we lived down South we would take the long journey to Northern Wisconsin for the 4th of July holiday. We have created a tradition that the kids (and adults) look forward to every year. Our day starts pretty much the same way every year. We start by decorating the boat for the boat parade, while the boys decorate I try to fit in a few pictures.....June is always ready for a few pictures, however, this year a $1 bribe helped just a little. Back in the day we would pose for a family portrait, I miss those days (trying to get the teenage boys in front of the camera would cost me way more than a dollar).

Kendall needed a little bribe too....a cherry sucker worked just great!

After pictures it is time for the parade. June was very excited this year because she was able to join the boys on the boat.

The "ladies" wait on the pier and wave to all of the boats...

Kendall waited patiently, we wave to the boats as they drive by, and wait just a little more...

Finally our boat....and candy! Russ delivers candy to the end of every pier and this year June helped. Look how excited she is!

Russ is looking pretty happy too!

After we received our treats the small girl jumped on board for the rest of the parade and I had a little Kendall break.

Away they went....

As I said, our day is full of tradition. After the boat parade we have lunch and head off to the parade in town. After a little time on the lake we have dinner and wait for fireworks. I have a lot more to share. Hopefully I can get all of my 4th of July pictures posted before Christmas. Seriously, I took a whole bunch of pictures this week.....Tomorrow we head to our temporary home and plug along as we wait patiently to have a home to call our own (thanks Mom and Dad). More to come, stop back soon!

Which lake in N WI? We're on our way to Hayward to spend to weeks on Gull Lake in the NW edge of Washburn co. We LOVE us some northwoods time.

That looks like so much fun! I can tell June thought so too. Was it super hot while you were there? My husband just went to our cabin yesterday. We haven't been there since it rained a whole bunch. Our dock is gone...it floated away :(

HOW FUN!!!!!! My mom has a boat parade at her house & they decorate the pontoon just like that. It's great but since we are usually stuck here on the4th we don't get to enjoy it much. and let me just say OMG- Kendall is getting so big!
