Snow....

Although a good portion of the Northern Midwest is blanketed in snow today we are enjoying temperatures in the 50's. However, we did have our first significant snowfall of the year last Friday. It was the perfect snow, the kind you hope to wake up to on Christmas morning. I have been waiting all Winter to get some shots of snow, so here they are.

When June was done with preschool we headed outside to build a snowman. Kendall was content to sit (yes sit) in the snow. Truth be told it was wet and deep and she could not run as fast as she likes so she decided to sit and eat the snow. She does not like gloves and they come off as soon as she gets outside.

June and I built our snowman while Kendall watched. June had fun decorating our creation and rearranged all of the accessories more than once.

When we were just about finished Kendall went in the garage to sit down on the step and wait for us. While I gathered our supplies to go inside I found Kendall laying on the garage floor. Can you guess what she was doing? I bet you can't. She was laying on the floor in the murky water and grime from Russ' car, her purple snow suit covered in black muck. No, she was not drinking tire water! What am I gonna do with this one?

Actually, we were out to dinner the other night and Kendall was being herself. A kind lady in the booth next to us was quite taken with my little bundle of energy. Her wise words, "God gave her to you because you have something important to learn from her and she has something important to learn from you." I thought her words were wise and comforting. I hope I learn quick!

That poor snow-covered picnic table looks so lonely! And I love Kendall's eye poking out from under her hat. Glad winter finally arrived for you! Hope it leaves quickly :)

Love the pics; love the Kendall story more. (And our Madelyn has the same polka dot hat and gloves. Although the gloves are never on her hands for more than 32 seconds.)

Beautiful post, gorgeous photos and such bright colours. I love the contrast of colours against the snow. I love those snow suits... cute!!
I believe our children are given to us by God to raise, teach and nurture and also to teach us lessons. You are blessed and an inspiration.

I have chosen you for the Liebster Award... please check out the blog post below to read about it and pass the award on to those you feel deserve it. Your blog is beautiful :)

I love, love your snow photos!! I might have gasped just a little when I saw that first one! :)

I had a woman come up to me while we were watching my daughter (2 at the time) dancing to some music out in the open at a festival, freely like kids do and whisper in my ear, "She is such a blessing". And before I could turn my head she was gone. I think sometimes God reminds us of things through others, and while both my kids are blessings to me, there is just something so wise and old soul about my daughter. (she is now going to be 17).

Ha! I hope you can too... I kinda posted about this last week because my 2 yr. old was ALL over the place at Ash Wednesday mass, putting on quite the show. It was a good thing we had understanding people around us.

Love your snowman - wow! That's just so amazing to me since I've never seen that much snow in real life!

Wise words- I keep trying to figure out what my children are trying to teach me but so far I've got nothing.

Oh my goodness, your photos are beautiful! Winter finally arrived here just the other day too. I tried to take some snowy photos, but they look nothing like yours. I wonder what God meant for my daughter to teach me? Maybe patience. So far it's not working ;)

Gorgeous snow pics! We were lucky to have a snow like that the day after Christmas last year. None so far this year though.

That looks like the perfect snowman. What fun ;)

I agree with those wise words, although many days that can be tough to remember. I too am blessed with an incredibly energetic child. He's my oldest and I have learned a great deal about patience, and resilience through parenting him. It has been a journey wilder than I ever could have imagined, but a blessing indeed. ;)

I wish we would get some snow! I must say that Kendall reminds me an awfully lot of my youngest. I obviously have something to learn from him too. :) And that is the cutest snowman I have ever seen.

Love the snow photos! So pretty. We got snow here in NJ for a day this winter- that is unheard of. But... with spring around the corner, I'll take it!
