Christmas Day 2007

Posted by Picasa
We had a great Christmas, we spend Christmas Eve with my dad's family and Christmas day with my mom's family. The kids all had a great time and of course June was our favorite gift this year! Over the weekend we will celebrate with Russ's family and look forward to seeing them in a few days.

My daughter and me.....

Me and my Junie! As an adoptive parent many people say,"what a lucky little girl". The truth of the matter is, we could not be luckier. God has blessed us with a gift, a gift that I could not have imagined in my dreams. We have been given the privilege of raising a daughter, not from my blood, but from my heart!

All the families that went to Hillview Tree Farm had a progressive tree viewing on Friday, by the time we got to our house two of our children were asleep so you will only see Russ and I in front of the tree. A fun time was had by all!

Tis' the season...................

Well, as you can see our tree is on the floor! For those of you who read my last post about being ready for Christmas at Easter, I am changing that prediction to The Fourth of July. Although I have some cute pictures of Max at his Christmas program and of June standing and crawling(kind of) this story seemed more news worthy. So at 3am(Russ out of town) I hear a noise that sounded like the cat knocking over a few boxes of ornaments. Slightly irritated I went downstairs and low and behold the whole tree, stand and all,(stand #3) were tipped over on the couch. So, at 3am, I started taking all the special ornaments my mom gives me every year off the tree(I had just started decorating 12 hours earlier). My neighbor is going to lend us a different tree stand and help me get the tree upright later today and hopefully the tree will stay standing. As I scan the living room I see ornaments, garland, lights, boxes of ornament, and in the dinning room unfinished Christmas card(those of you who get cards from me, they may be late). So, as always, when something bad happens I count my blessings, lucky the tree did not fall when I was decorating with the kids, not a lot broke, and I have a good excuse for late Christmas cards!

Winter Wonderland......

Tis the season! This is the view from my kitchen window, I love the trees after a fresh snow! We have so many blessings.....however I am going to vent some Christmas frustrations. Russ put our tree in our stand on Monday and the stand broke, so I bought a new one....the stand was called "Santa's Last Stand". So last night Russ put the tree in the new stand....this morning I put the water in and it leaked all over the floor. I guess it is not the last stand because now I need to purchase another stand. Russ is out of town and at the rate things are going around here I fear it may be Easter before I get our Christmas decorations out. Even Jake has asked if I was going to decorate for Christmas. I know the decorations are not important, especially as I blog with my sweet June-bug next to me!

Special Day.....

Just about the time of day when things get hairy around my house(after school time)my phone rang. My dear friend from grade school says, "I think I am by your house." Sure enough a business trip led her right by my house. I was so pleased to have a few minutes to catch up before she had to go on to her nephew's basket ball game. Like my title said, it was a special day!

The Johnson Family Tree 2007

Since we have moved back to Illinois, we make an annual trek to Westfield, Wisconsin to cut down our Christmas tree(all except the blue spruce year). This year was no exception. Our brave friends shared their vacation home with us and the next day the tree adventure began. This year we raced a winter storm warning and lost. As you can see the weather was picturesque for the cutting, the drive home was another story....We all made it home safe, however, what should have been a 2&1/2 hour drive was 6 hours with stops. Hopefully, we will have pictures of a decorated tree sooner, rather than later.

A great afternoon......

June and I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with my Grandmother, Great Aunt, and cousins. June and I had a great time and look forward to many more afternoons just like this one!
